LAYOUT, FINISHING, AND FURNISHINGS
A handcrafted oak wood staircase with forged handrails runs through the entire 3-story house section. The doors are also made of solid wood and custom-made, and the floors are covered with Swedish oak parquet. The stairwell is adorned with an amazing stained glass artwork by artist Kai Kaljo (approximately 30 m²).
The 1st floor contains a stairwell, storage space under the stairs, a cloakroom, a pool room with a marble fireplace, a cozy Finnish sauna and shower, a toilet, a garage, and a technical room. The floors are laid with granite tiles, with local limestone tiles in the pool area. A bronze sculpture by Tauno Kangro adorns the pool area.
The 2nd floor has a living room with a fireplace, dining room, kitchen, terrace, and balcony. The living room furniture (Russian Empire Biedermeier style in mahogany), dating from the early 19th century, has been restored and is in excellent condition. The dining room furniture (Russian Modern in oak wood) is from around 1900. The kitchen furniture is custom-made from high-quality oak wood, with a granite countertop and floors of local limestone tiles. Kitchen and home appliances include a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, baking oven, stove, dishwasher, washing machine, and a pull-out ironing board. The living room leads to a terrace, and the kitchen to a balcony.
The 3rd floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with a pull-down ladder in the ceiling leading to the attic. The first bedroom features classicist-style furniture in ivory color, covered with bronze and decorated with porcelain miniatures – purchased from the Paris World Exhibition, made in 1900. The second bedroom has magnificent furniture (Russian Empire in Karelian birch) from 1800-****. The third bedroom furniture (in birch and mahogany) was made in Germany in 1920-****. All bathrooms are custom-made with large marble tiles and fixtures from the Heritage brand.
CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
The walls are built from double-row silicate bricks, covered with pressed steel-sheet stone tiles. The roof is made of profile metal sheets. The building has triple-glazed windows – the outer layer with aluminum profile and wooden interior. Note that the 1st floor windows are covered with security film.
TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS
Water comes from a private well, approximately 100 m deep. The sewage system is local. Heating is a combination of electric floor heating and fireplaces. Solar panels are installed on the roof, producing electricity with a capacity of about 9,700 kW per year (depending on weather conditions). A very convenient solution is a central vacuum system. The house also has an alarm system that can be activated floor by floor.
PROPERTY
The house is surrounded by a relief plot with a large ornamental garden and ancient trees. In 2018, this garden was recognized with a special prize at the Estonian Gardens competition. There is also a private grilling area with a roof. The plot is bordered by a 2-meter wall made of limestone blocks, with gates made of forged iron. A large street stone parking area is in front of the house.
