Your Terrace Needs Maintenance!
We usually only remember our terrace in the spring when beautiful weather arrives, but that's exactly the right time to take a closer look at it. Have the boards lost their color? Or can you already see slight cracks on the surface, which occur as a result of contact with bacteria? Before you move furniture to your terrace, take care of your terrace!
Oil is a good tool for terrace maintenance. It protects boards excellently against moisture, dirt, and wear. Applying oil is simple and should be manageable even for less experienced hands. You can choose between transparent or colored varnish. Before you start applying oil, make sure you have removed all dirt from the terrace boards. A pressure washer is a good aid in this case, which should be able to reach even the last bit of dirt from the grooves of the wooden board. In the absence of a pressure washer, regular floor brushes, water, and a vacuum cleaner will do the job.
Before applying oil, make sure the terrace is completely dry. Oiling damp wood will not give the desired result. Also be correct when mixing the oil; it must be mixed thoroughly either using a mixing stick or by shaking the bucket sufficiently.
Apply the oil with even movements. Sometimes, depending on the oil's tone and the darkness level of the color, one coat of oil is enough. However, if your terrace requires two coats, let the boards dry for a couple of hours between the two applications. The terrace will reach its final, usable dryness after about 12 hours.
However, if you are unsure whether your terrace has been oiled before and what exactly the right product is to use, then take a picture of the area and the building supply store staff will certainly be able to advise you!
