Mark Mihhailenko Takes Over YIT Estonia Management
Margus Põim, who has led YIT Eesti AS for nearly 16 years, will hand over the management of the company to a three-member board on June 1, 2024, in connection with his retirement. The board will be headed by Mark Mihhailenko, who previously worked as head of the technical department. The board will also include Kristjan Kontaveit, head of the real estate development sector, and Reimo Ehrstein, head of the construction sector.
Mark Mihhailenko has worked at YIT for 13 years and most recently served as head of the technical department, responsible for budgeting, procurement, after-sales service, and other construction support services.
„Marki appointment as board chairman is a natural generational transition that we have planned together with the YIT supervisory board and the new board. I can leave with peace of mind because I know that YIT Eesti will remain in the hands of a very capable team. Both the new board and every current YIT employee have done outstanding work, and together we have ensured the company's survival, good reputation, and trustworthiness in the eyes of our clients. This is an achievement to be proud of, and a good position from which to move forward," said Margus Põim.
According to Mark Mihhailenko, YIT Eesti is in an excellent starting position for sustainable growth in both the number of projects and sales volumes following the changes of recent years.
„We will continue working with the board and the rest of YIT's professional team to implement the YIT strategy, and we continue to have the support of an international group. In the coming years, we plan to focus heavily on cooperation and improving management quality, and we will continue to dedicate ourselves to developing our responsible business model," he said.
In addition to Mark Mihhailenko, the board includes Kristjan Kontaveit, who has worked at YIT for 14 years, with the last 9 years as head of the real estate development sector, and Reimo Ehrstein, who has worked as head of YIT's construction sector for the last five years and has been active in the construction sector since 1996. The YIT Eesti supervisory board will continue with the same composition: Tom Sandvik, Joonas Kiurusalmi, and Venla Laakkonen.
