Have you noticed that there's already a hint of spring in the air outside? The long winter is coming to an end, and with it comes the annual spring cleaning. That's right, it's time again. And to make sure your cleaning and tidying goes smoothly, it's worth reviewing your cleaning supplies. With the right tools, any job goes quickly, whether it's spring cleaning or anything else.

Microfiber cleaning cloths

The biggest advantage of microfiber cleaning cloths over regular fabric cloths is that they don't leave lint behind and surfaces remain clean and shiny afterwards. The cloths can be used both dry and wet and usually without adding cleaning products.

Microfiber cleaning cloths are reusable and can be successfully washed in the machine at 60 degrees.

A proper scrubbing brush

The old reliable scrubbing brush comes in handy when a damp cloth isn't enough. For example, when dust and grease have accumulated on the upper kitchen cabinets, such a brush is an invaluable helper in removing that sticky layer.

Drying supplies

This category includes handle squeegees, with which you can dry windows, bathroom walls and other smooth surfaces.

Floor squeegee

The floor squeegee works on the same principle as other drying tools, but we think it deserves special attention. Namely, we recommend that you forget about the broom and start sweeping dust, sand, water or other dirt with a floor squeegee instead. Its advantage over a broom is that when using rubber, no dust or other dirt is left on the floor and it doesn't become airborne either. To wash the floor, you can attach a microfiber floor cloth to the squeegee or use some old cloth you have around the house for this purpose.

Dustpan and brush set

A floor squeegee is an excellent tool, but to lift the pile of sand or dust into the trash, you'll need a dustpan and brush. Whether it's a hand-held dustpan and brush or tools attached to a longer handle. Choose ones that are easy to attach to each other, so one or the other won't go wandering around the house.

Spray bottles

You'll need these for homemade cleaning products, which you'll find instructions for below. Spray water bottles are also helpful when ironing and sprinkling water on houseplants.

Homemade cleaning products

We encourage you to mix cleaning products yourself or buy them from an eco-shop and leave harsh household chemicals on the supermarket shelf. First, you save money, second, the environment, third, your family's health and fourth, even your bathroom or kitchen surfaces. Sometimes it can happen that harsh cleaning products can damage your sink or shower mixer.

If you clean your home regularly, you don't need a whole shelf of harsh chemicals – soap-based cleaning products are enough. Mainly you need a dishwashing liquid, a general-purpose cleaner and a slightly acidic product for removing limescale and similar stubborn dirt, which we recommend buying from an eco-shop.

But if you think even the cleaning products sold in eco-shops are too harsh, you can mix a very effective cleaning product at home yourself. This video teaches you how to mix several homemade cleaning products, but if you don't have time to watch this short video right now, we'll quickly give you a recipe for one effective general-purpose cleaner. Take an empty spray bottle, add four tablespoons of vinegar to it, twenty drops of lemon oil and fill the rest of the bottle with water. Your effective helper is ready!

Vacuum cleaner

Although professional cleaners don't think much of vacuum cleaners, it's still a useful helper when cleaning carpets.

Large garbage bags

Spring cleaning usually also means throwing away or recycling things – and that's why you need large garbage bags.
