Võ-Õismäe's New Tower Building Awaits Residents at Year's End

YIT Estonia celebrated the completion of the final height of a 14-story residential tower at Päevalille 17 in Väike-Õismäe with a roof ceremony. According to YIT sales manager Eva-Liisa Tamm, owners will receive the keys to their new homes at the end of the year.

According to Tamm, Päevalille 17 is an ideal home for people who dream of a modern apartment with all conveniences, where everything needed for an active life is within a short walk.

„In a modern home, it is pleasant to be during every season, because thanks to environmentally friendly technical systems, the air is pleasantly fresh and the rooms are warm. When designing the building, we thought of everything residents need for easy and comfortable living. Two elevators for faster movement between floors, apartment-specific hot water and electricity meters, video-phone systems for opening the door to guests and couriers, and many other modern solutions ensure a carefree life for residents," confirmed Eva-Liisa Tamm.

The sleek B-energy class building contains a total of 70 apartments, ranging from 30 m² one-room apartments to 79.7 m² four-room family apartments. Residents on higher floors of the residential tower can especially enjoy the spacious views opening from their windows and balconies of both Lake Harku and Kopli Bay.

The building has a facade in various color shades, with concrete surfaces balanced by balconies with tinted glazing. According to architect Priit Hamer, who designed the tower, the most important goal in designing the residential tower was to create a building that would tastefully complement Õismäe's established character and create modern urban space around the building that allows for a peaceful atmosphere.

„Creating new buildings in areas known stereotypically as residential districts is actually quite a straightforward and at the same time exciting task for an architect, because the environment and general architectural ideology are already largely established there. An architect has the ability to give the buildings more modernity, airiness and color through their solution, while remaining restrained and respecting the character inherent to the area. I believe that the solid vertically emphasizing solution of Päevalille residential towers fulfills this goal very well," said Hamer.

The architect added that the Päevalille project also aimed to create an area that would offer residents the opportunity to enjoy quiet moments between their routine daily activities. „For this purpose, we created a green area with a well-landscaped garden building on the roof of the Päevalille apartment building parking lot, where residents can enjoy the sun, read books, have picnics with friends, and play with children. An urban living environment does not mean that a building is surrounded by intensive activities – in modern urban spaces, there is an increasing effort to create more opportunities for relaxation," she said.

According to her, areas like Väike-Õismäe still need more complete planning. „There are many loose ends in these blocks, because what was once planned has not been fully implemented and there is still a lot of unused „wasteland" between buildings. Urban space experts have pointed to the need to densify the city, while emphasizing that this should not come at the expense of green environments. Fortunately, there are already many good examples of how landscape architects have managed to bring life to courtyards of modernist urban spaces with multiple projects," added Hamer.

Each apartment at Päevalille 17 has its own storage room and a personal parking space. To enable residents to prefer cycling over driving, a special bicycle storage room has been created on the first floor of the building, where baby strollers can also be stored safely.

According to a YIT representative, the new building is an ideal home for people who value an active lifestyle. „In addition to the green area on the parking lot roof, residents have the opportunity to use the fun park next to the building and a ball game field, which can be used as a skating rink in winter. An interesting hiking trail starts from Väike-Õismäe, inviting jogging, cycling, rollerblading and even cross-country skiing in winter. Residents can go hiking in the forest, enjoy beach life by Lake Harku, visit the Open Air Museum or the Zoo. Schools and kindergartens are also within walking or cycling distance, as is a wide selection of hobby clubs and sports clubs, food stores, shopping centers and restaurants," listed Eva-Liisa Tamm the advantages of the new building's location.
