Look at How to Live in a Newly Built Modern-Era Fishing Village on Neem
In the historic Neeme fishing village in Jõelähtme municipality, Estonia's most modern "40 chimneys fishing village" was opened during the Song Festival weekend – a brand new residential area consisting of forty ultra-economical terraced housing units created by architect Ülar Mark and built by robots.
The festive opening of the area named Pärituule was attended by new residents, visitors, the people of Neeme fishing village, and representatives of the municipality, developer, and builders. In the speeches by developer Sten Tikki, Neeme Coastal Protection Association representative and village elder Sirje Põllu, and Jõelähtme Municipal Council member Tõnu Vaher, it was emphasized that Neeme is the youngest village in Jõelähtme municipality, and now thanks to new young homeowners and residents, the average age is likely the lowest as well. As a second distinctive feature, it was mentioned that in honour of the region's traditions, this is the first time in Estonia that every new homeowner in a fishing village automatically also became a boat (co)owner.
According to Sten Tikki, developer of the area and member of the board of Pärituule Residences, the completed buildings were specially adapted to the needs of young families working remotely or in hybrid arrangements. To date, 28 of the forty homes have been sold or reserved. "The target group for Pärituule Residences has been the youngest and most contemporary generation of homebuyers, whose work and lifestyle is flexible, who expect low costs and would like to be somewhat, but not too far, away from Tallinn," he explained. The four-room apartment-sized terraced housing units by the seaside in a pine forest, half an hour's drive from Tallinn, meet the trend that began to emerge at world housing exhibitions when remote and hybrid work became widespread, according to Tikki.
Ingmar Saksing, chairman of the board of LVM Kinnisvara, Pärituule's sales partner, highlighted the most important aspect when discussing the new buildings – that a thoughtfully planned 73-square-meter home contains all the functions of a typical "hundred-square-meter" apartment. "Each home includes a sauna, terrace, and utility room, solar panels that save nature and budget, and modern climate solutions," he emphasized. To keep the price of the homes affordable, they were built at the Kodea factory under the "hands" of robots. Automated production at the factory ensured both first-class quality and timely completion of construction. Each home also includes a storage area and parking space, and additionally, each home has an electric car charger and an extra parking space on municipal land.
Located 40 km from Tallinn in Jõelähtme municipality, the historic Neeme village with a strong community has a kindergarten, school, shop, restaurants, harbor, beach, and cycling paths. The village's population, currently three hundred residents, will grow by approximately a quarter once all new residents move in.
