The International Exhibition "Art of the Brick" is Coming to Telliskivi
This Friday, November 28, the world-famous LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya's exhibition "Art of the Brick" will open in the M-building of Telliskivi TLN – an experience that has already captivated over 10 million visitors in more than 100 cities. Now it arrives in Estonia for the first time.
The LEGO art of Nathan Sawaya, a former New York corporate lawyer, has traveled the world because it speaks to everyone through its precision, playfulness, and the joy of recognition. At Telliskivi, visitors can see more than 70 works, including both original creations and interpretations of famous masterpieces such as Van Gogh's "Starry Night", Klimt's "The Kiss", and Munch's "The Scream". In addition, visitors will enjoy the popular DIY building area.
According to Katrina Šokman, the rental relations manager of Telliskivi TLN, "Art of the Brick" symbolizes well what is taking place at Telliskivi. "Exhibition visitors will see what wonderful forms and ideas can be created from small bricks. The creation of the Telliskivi quarter has been a similar process, it is a meeting place of big ideas and the joy of discovery, being built brick by brick. Our goal has been to provide an environment where, alongside a business quarter, top-level culture, international experiences, and everyday life blend together to form a unified whole," said Šokman.
The exhibition is brought to Estonia by PoCo pop art museum. Linnar Viik, one of PoCo's leaders, emphasizes the exhibition's universal appeal: "„Art of the Brick" is like a monument to creativity – an exhibition that appeals to children, young people, and adults alike. LEGO bricks, which are like a symbol of childhood, become a serious artistic medium in Sawaya's hands. The exhibition reminds us that imagination does not fade with age, but needs space and inspiration."
Within the walls of the M-building, several international hit exhibitions have since been brought to Estonian audiences. The exhibition saga that started from the M-building opened last year with "Banksy's Puzzle – Real Genius", which hosted more than 108,000 visitors and continued with this year's "Da Vinci Genius", which was visited by more than 92,000 guests.
"Art of the Brick" will also be the last major exhibition in the M-building in the form it appears today in the heart of Telliskivi. "For art lovers, we can promise that the tradition of art experiences will not end with the renovation of the M-building. In the interim phase, we will create temporary conditions and, thinking about the future, we are already creating permanent and contemporary standard-compliant exhibition and cultural spaces," promises Šokman.
The "Art of the Brick" exhibition will remain open in the M-building until March 29, after which the building's renovation will begin. In the new M-building, modern, technically high-level exhibition spaces will be created that will allow Estonia to host even larger and more demanding international art experience projects in the future.
