A cornerstone was laid for an apartment building at Tartu mnt 44
A commercial and residential building rising at Tartu mnt 44 received its cornerstone. With the approximately 14.5 million euro development, a striking building with timeless design will be built in the center of Tallinn, which will be completed by the end of next year.
„For Avalon, Tartu mnt 44 is certainly an important milestone that proves our ability to undertake large projects and be leaders in creating new standards. All of this is only possible thanks to a good team and strong cooperation with various companies and people, from designers to builders," said Kristjan Lood, member of the Avalon board.
„Laying the cornerstone is a symbolic celebration in construction, a strong start has been made and our goals are in sight. In just a year, an elegant and dignified landmark will have risen on Tallinn's skyline. I would like to extend my gratitude in advance to everyone who will devote their knowledge, experience and wisdom to this project. As we say at Bildgren: the most important tool is under the dome!" said Ahto Aruväli, member of the board of Bildgren Construction.
Honoring traditions, representatives of the client Avalon and the builder Bildgren Construction placed mementos in the time capsule, including a fresh newspaper, coins, pieces of bread and coal, a business card made of metal engraved with the names of construction engineers, and good wishes from guests for the building and its future residents.
The aesthetic exterior architecture of the building was created by architectural firm AB Korrus and the interior solutions by interior design firm Ako In.
The building contains a total of 72 apartments (2–5-room apartments, ranging from 32–158 m2), which are suitable for both living and rental. On the ground floor there are six retail and service spaces. The saleable area of the building is 4624.4 m2, which includes retail spaces, offices and apartments.
In the A-energy class comfort building, each apartment has a smart home solution – with a touch-sensitive screen you can control heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting. These functions can also be controlled remotely via mobile. In addition to central heating, each apartment has cooling devices based on remote cooling. Room temperature can also be regulated individually. Fresh indoor air is maintained by heat recovery forced ventilation. The building is applying for the internationally recognized LEED certificate, which confirms commitment to sustainability. Rainwater is collected in tanks and used within the plot, contributing to a more environmentally friendly living environment.
Near the completed commercial and residential building are business parks, shopping centers, restaurants, parks, Tallinn Bus Station and the soon-to-be-renovated Central Market Hall. The airport is only 2.5 km away.
