Roofit.Solar Solved the Problem: Complex Roofs No Longer Left Out of Solar Energy Production
Estonian technology company Roofit.Solar's new solar roof can solve the obstacle associated with installing solar panels on small and irregular roof surfaces, and offers a more efficient solution for energy production than before.
Namely, the Velario® Slim solar roof's 471 millimeter roof panel is narrower than its predecessors and makes it possible to cover complex and angular surfaces that previous solutions have not allowed. It is also 18% more powerful thanks to new TOPCon solar cells. The new solar roof modules are also more efficient in low light conditions, which means that energy production depends less on sunny weather.
According to Roofit.Solar's CEO Andres Anijalg, the desire to make every square centimeter of the roof produce energy drove product development. "The new solution unlocks the full potential of solar energy technology for all roofs. Roof surfaces previously inaccessible to roof modules can now also be made to produce energy. We are unique in the Estonian market and among the few in Europe who offer such a flexible solution," Anijalg said.
Furthermore, new innovative technologies support the goals of solar energy adoption in Europe. In 2023, a record 56 GW of new solar energy capacity was installed in Europe, representing 40% growth compared to the previous year. However, to achieve Europe's 2030 targets, an average of 70 GW of solar energy capacity needs to be installed annually, and innovation in this field helps reach the targets faster.
Since its founding in 2016, Roofit.Solar has expanded rapidly into Europe and currently operates in 26 countries. The Estonian solar roof company stands out from competitors with its Nordic minimalist design, which has also been recognized as worthy of the prestigious Red Dot "Best of the Best" Design Award. Roofit.Solar's solar energy storage technology is hidden inside a steel roof. This makes solar roofs increasingly popular in high-end renovations and additions of renewable energy sources to historic buildings, where conventional solar panels are not permitted or would detract from the building's overall appearance. In addition to the discreet Scandinavian design, solar roofs are exceptionally resistant to harsh weather conditions, including frost, and are easy to install. All these qualities have been carried over to the new Velario® Slim solar roof as well.
