Reterra Builds Tennis and Padel Center for Latvian Tennis Legend Ernests Gulbis

At the end of the year, Latvia will open one of the Baltic region's largest and most modern tennis and padel centers through the collaboration of Estonian real estate developer Reterra and Latvian tennis star Ernests Gulbis. The total investment in this multifunctional sports center amounts to 13 million euros. A significant construction milestone for the center was marked with a topping-out ceremony, and a message to future generations was sealed into the building. The center is being built by Mapri Būve.

The new center will become one of the region's most important racquet sports infrastructure facilities. The center will have a total of 16 indoor courts, six tennis courts and ten padel courts, plus five outdoor tennis courts. This makes it possible to organize both daily training sessions and competitions at various levels year-round. In the center named after Latvia's one of the most successful tennis players Ernests Gulbis, an academy will also operate, with the goal of supporting the development of young talent.

According to Gulbis, the new center is born from the conviction that every child and young person must have the opportunity to dream, grow and develop. "I have played and competed against the world's best tennis players and I know that it is possible to reach the top of the world from Latvia and more broadly from the Baltics. After sports medals come different kinds of victories—the desire to pass on one's knowledge, develop the sport and help others. It is important that we take care of our health, that we maintain discipline and that we spend active time together with family and friends," describes Ernests Gulbis the vision of the center.

According to Reterra CEO and co-owner Reigo Randmets, sports infrastructure projects of this scale based on private investment are rare and socially significant. "We must value people who have achieved international success and return to pass on their experience and knowledge to the next generations. Ernests Gulbis is an excellent example of the fact that a truly great legacy does not consist solely of sporting achievements, but also of the desire to create opportunities for others. We are proud to be part of realizing his vision and to invest in future athletes and champions," says Randmets.

The new center is located at Hanzas iela 3, Piņķi, Babīte municipality, Mārupe county. Construction work is being carried out by Mapri Būve. "In this project, we are not just builders, but we also represent the design team and work has been ongoing for over a year and a half. From initial simple tennis center sketches, we have developed a very modern sports center concept," says Mapri Būve board chairman Artūrs Sausiņš. This way, modern architecture, thoughtful functionality and quality sports infrastructure create an environment for both professional athletes and active lifestyle enthusiasts.

According to Gulbis, it is important that the sports environment develops not only champions, but also strong, responsible and determined people, and it is never too late to start learning something new. "Regular physical activity and staying in shape make it possible to live a more full-fledged and healthier life. That is our main mission. Not everyone is destined to become a top athlete, but everyone has the opportunity to take care of themselves. We want the center to become a place where everyone finds their place and path to better well-being," says Gulbis.

Gulbis' tennis and padel center will also offer wellness, fitness and support services. The center will have a café, a gym and exercise halls, saunas, ice baths and physiotherapy rooms. The total indoor area of the building is 9195 m², with terraces and balconies adding another 284 m² of outdoor space. The center is designed for players of different ages and skill levels and aims to improve training opportunities for athletes throughout the Baltic region. Ernests Gulbis' Tennis and Padel Center is planned to open at the end of the year.
