Estonia's largest timber retailer Puumarket invested a million euros in the reconstruction of its oldest Tallinn branch in Männiku and significantly expanded its selection of general building materials.
According to Puumarket's CEO Toomas Tauk, construction and renovation are currently favorable times for a building materials store, and it is easier to find skilled workers, which is why they decided to undertake this major investment now. "The renovation work lasted half a year, and now the interior and exterior areas of the center located in Männiku total more than 15,000 square meters. The store itself expanded by more than 100 square meters, and the local selection grew by approximately 1,000 products to 5,000 items," said Tauk.
"Wood and wood-based materials remain our most important product categories, but in the bigger picture, Puumarket's strategy is to offer increasingly more general building materials, which already account for over a third of total sales," said Tauk.
"The renovation has created a building materials center for residents of Nõmme, Saku, and Kiisa, where they can get everything important. The direction is to remain a serious builder's center in terms of both selection and service, but without picture frames and cooking classes. Puumarket's Männiku center has a larger wood and sauna materials showroom and a faster and more convenient customer service and goods delivery solution than before," added Tauk.
Puumarket's store located at Väike-Männiku 11 was designed by TEN Architects and reconstructed by Geromint OÜ.
Founded in 1991, Puumarket's 2023 turnover exceeded 40 million euros. The Estonian-capital-based company has five centers across Estonia. Puumarket employs 90 people.
