Merko and Padelsquare have signed a cooperation agreement to build paddle courts in the Uus-Veerenni residential quarter being developed by Merko. The outdoor padel center, intended for both quarter residents and the general public, is the first in Tallinn where you can play simultaneously on four courts.

Construction work is underway at the Pille 21 property in the Uus-Veerenni residential quarter, so padel can be played there by mid-May. Merko will build the center with four panoramic courts, and Padelsquare will operate the center.

Indrek Tarto, head of Merko Homes, stated that for 20 years Merko has invested as one of the founders of Estonian Health Trails in creating opportunities for various sports activities throughout Estonia. With the same goal, Merko residential quarters pay attention to ensuring that residents of different ages and with different exercise preferences have diverse opportunities to take care of their health in their own neighborhood.

„The construction of paddle courts in Uus-Veerenni is a good opportunity to promote physical activity as a foundation for good health and to expand the existing sports opportunities in the Veerenni district. Our experience with activity areas previously completed in Uus-Veerenni shows that the availability of exercise opportunities close to home creates excellent conditions for spending quality time together. Since padel, in addition to providing physical exercise, is also a social game, it brings people together and fits well into any community," added Tarto.

Padelsquare, which also operates padel centers in Pärnu and Laagri, will take care of the daily operations and maintenance of the new center. Mats Tamme, one of Padelsquare's leaders, noted that both in Pärnu and Laagri, the local community has welcomed the new popular sports opportunity warmly.

„We have seen with both of our padel centers opened so far that about half of the interested people are those who are already active padel players, and the others are those who come to try the sport because a playing opportunity was created near their home, and usually stay with it. From May to September, many prefer to play padel outdoors when possible, and four outdoor courts should be a good solution for the Veerenni community's needs," said Tamme.

Since so far Estonia's only outdoor center with four courts is in Viljandi, the completion of the Uus-Veerenni padel center will also create an opportunity for Tallinn to host tournaments in outdoor conditions. In addition to regular playing time, Padelsquare also organizes events, training sessions and tournaments that encourage people to try the new sport and give people the opportunity to spend time together actively.

Uus-Veerenni is a residential quarter developed and built by Merko. To date, 38 buildings have been completed in the quarter and nearly 500 families live in them. The next residential building in Uus-Veerenni will be completed in the summer of 2026.
