New Mustamäe Residential Area Completed 99 New Apartments with 65 More by Year End

Residential development company Bonava has completed another phase of the New Mustamäe development and has built nearly 500 new homes in the area over the past four years. The total scope of the development is 750 apartments.

The homes created by Bonava in New Mustamäe add contemporary architecture and new life to the Mustamäe district, which emerged in Tallinn in the 1960s. The recently completed complex of buildings at Aiandi 9 consists of three houses connected by a rest area created between the buildings. Under completion is the residential building located at Aiandi 16, which has recently reached its full height and will be ready for occupancy by the end of this year.

„Mustamäe is one of Tallinn's most densely populated districts after Lasnamäe, and by creating new residential areas in the district, increasingly more young families with children will move here in the coming years," said Bonava's Marketing and Sales Manager Lauri Laanoja. "The New Mustamäe neighborhood created by Bonava is a thoughtfully planned safe home with courtyards that is easy to navigate on foot, by bicycle, or by public transport," Laanoja explained why New Mustamäe is a valued residential area.

Historically, the Mustamäe area has been known especially for its multi-story panel houses. The residential area began to be planned in 1957 and the first panel buildings were completed in 1964. Mustamäe's first 16-story high-rise residential building was completed at the end of 1974, making it the tallest residential building in Tallinn at that time. The New Mustamäe development complements Mustamäe's architectural appearance by fitting contemporary apartment buildings alongside buildings constructed decades earlier.

The New Mustamäe area developed by Bonava welcomed its first residents in new homes three years ago, and with the homes created in the coming years, it will become the most modern and comprehensive residential area in the Mustamäe district. What makes the New Mustamäe development special is the 7,000-square-meter public park in its center, which is the heart of the area and has created various activities for active outdoor stays.

In total, 15 bright residential buildings with 1-4 room apartments have been built in the development, and 5 apartment buildings are under completion. Schools and kindergartens, a hobby school, Mustika center, sports club, cinema, and Mustamäe center are located near the homes.
