Merko Begins Construction of Tihas Apartment Buildings in Tallinn
As part of the Tihase development project, apartment buildings with 46 apartments and three commercial spaces are being erected in Tallinn at the corner of Sõpruse Avenue and Tihase Street. The new buildings with modern appearance, integrated into the greenery of Kristiine district, will be completed in the first half of 2024.
As part of the Tihase (merko.ee/tihase) development project, Merko is building two five-story apartment buildings at the address Sõpruse pst 26//28. The buildings will contain cozy two to four-room apartments, with sizes ranging from 51–132 square meters. To maximize the amount of natural light reaching the apartments, most apartments feature an open-plan layout extending throughout the building.
"Tihase homes connect two distinct worlds. On one side is the family-friendly and cozy Kristiine garden district, and on the other side is convenient transportation connection to the city center. To emphasize the greenery of the area and extend the sense of home beyond the apartments, we have placed great emphasis on creating balconies, loggias, terraces, and outdoor spaces in this project," said Taavi Kotkas, project developer for Tihase.
For year-round comfort, all Tihase apartments have balconies, loggias, and/or terraces. The first-floor apartments are complemented by a private courtyard area, and the top-floor apartments' roof terraces include both a glazed winter garden and a mini outdoor pool. A cozy inner courtyard will be created next to the apartment buildings as a common area for all residents, with lush greenery surrounding shared relaxation and play areas.
Commercial spaces suitable for small entrepreneurs are located on the first floor of the building, and the underground level connecting the two apartment buildings is intended for bicycles, cars, and storage spaces.
On the buildings' underground level, practicality is combined with beauty. Parking spaces are equipped with readiness for electric vehicle charging points, the bicycle room allows not only bicycle storage and maintenance but also bicycle washing, and storage spaces allow charging of electric micromobility devices. Conventional concrete walls have been replaced with eye-catching and homey interior finishing, which creates a cozy home feeling upon entering the building.
The architectural solution for Tihase apartment buildings was created by Architecture Bureau Luhse and Tuhal. The apartment layouts and interior finishing packages were developed in cooperation with LÄVI interior architects, and the landscape architect is Signe Kasepalu.
