Magnetic MRO Opens Modern Aircraft Maintenance Hangar Development at Airport City
On January 21, 2026, a new aircraft maintenance hangar complex by Magnetic MRO will be officially opened in the southern area of Airport City, strengthening the position of Tallinn Airport and Airport City as an international aviation and business hub. This is one of the largest and technologically most complex aviation sector developments in Estonia in recent years.
As part of Magnetic MRO's expansion, the constructed hangar complex consists of three separate hangars with a total area of approximately 10,000 m². The new buildings have been specifically designed for aircraft maintenance and repair operations and comply with international aviation standards. The hangar solutions also take into account the needs for servicing larger aircraft types and are equipped with specialized aircraft maintenance platforms including tail docks, wing docks, and access ladders. The hangar complex allows for the simultaneous execution of full maintenance on up to three commercial aircraft.
Along with the new development, Magnetic MRO has at its disposal approximately 30,400 m² of space on Tallinn Airport's territory, making the company the airport's largest and one of its strategically most important business clients.
According to Veiko Keerberg, Chairman of the Board of Airport City, this is a significant step in the development of the entire business city: "The completion of Magnetic MRO's hangars is a very important milestone for Airport City. This development clearly demonstrates that we are able to create complex and specialized solutions together with our partners that support aviation sector growth and bring long-term value here. It is also important that the created project solutions and supporting infrastructure allow us, if needed, to quickly build additional hangars to meet the continuously growing needs of aviation."
According to Riivo Tuvikese, Chairman of the Board of Tallinn Airport, the Magnetic MRO expansion strengthens the airport's international competitiveness: "Magnetic MRO is a very important strategic partner for Tallinn Airport. The new hangar complex supports the airport's development as an international maintenance and service center and thereby vigorously supports Tallinn Airport's strategic objectives."
The construction work was carried out by NOBE Ehitus, whose Board member and Construction Director Priit Nigols acknowledged that the maintenance hangar complex was an engineering-wise quite complex and exciting challenge, where the NOBE team was able to fully apply its knowledge and skills. "We were sincerely pleased to work with a strong and professional team of partners - cooperation with Airport City and Magnetic MRO was entirely trustworthy and I believe that the result speaks for itself."
"Capability alone is not enough, because what matters is what you can accomplish with that capability," said Jan Kotka, Head of Magnetic MRO, a maintenance company belonging to Magnetic Group. "The added capacity at our Tallinn facility allows us to increase the volume of critical maintenance work, integrate more digital and data-driven solutions, and provide the services our clients expect from us, while at the same time raising the standard in terms of work execution speed, transparency, and overall cost-effectiveness."
The total investment for the construction of the hangar complex reached 13.9 million euros. The development was financed with the support of a green loan from OP Corporate Bank Estonia, which confirms the project's compliance with sustainable development principles. The building has been designed in accordance with the international LEED certification SILVER level requirements and a 150 kW solar energy system has been installed on it.
The presence and expansion of Magnetic MRO support Airport City's development into an important aviation and logistics hub and contribute to both regional economic development and strengthening Tallinn Airport's role in the international aviation network.
