Tallinn city confirmed the detailed plan for the property located at Linnamäe Road 28 in Lasnamäe, and immediately after the building permit is issued, construction work on a Lidl store will begin there.

First and foremost, the confirmation of the detailed plan is good news for the residents of the area, for whom the opening of the brand-new Lidl moved significantly closer in the direction of more favorable prices,” commented Arūnas Dzikas, member of the management board of Lidl Estonia, noting that the confirmation of the Linnamäe Road detailed plan by Tallinn city did not proceed at quite the pace that had reason to be expected, but by now this stage has nonetheless been completed.

On Lidl's behalf, the Linnamäe Road 28 detailed plan was already on public display in January of this year, and in March the corresponding draft reached the Tallinn city government for approval, but the decision-making took over half a year. Investors are not hiding the fact that such a pace of proceedings raises questions and affects business development in general.

Arūnas Dzikas believes that close cooperation between investors and Tallinn city is in the interest of both parties. “Our interest is indeed mutual, because growing competition helps Tallinn residents find better and more affordable options in a cooling economic environment for their everyday shopping, and a new store means new jobs and tax revenue to the state budget,” added the member of the Lidl Estonia management board.

Lidl currently has 6 stores open in Tallinn. On Linnamäe Road, a building permit is awaited, and the detailed plan for a store planned at Paavli 10 is awaiting approval.
