How to Create Space in Cabinets and Drawers in a Short Time
Today we're going to start cleaning and focus on making space in cabinets and drawers. You probably agree that too many things eventually accumulate in every drawer and container. Right now, before the nice spring arrives, is the perfect time to do a more thorough organization.
Maybe you don't like it, but sorting things usually also means parting with some items, so when you start cleaning, prepare a larger garbage bag and a box for recycling. The latter is very important because if an item isn't actually broken, it's possible to find it a new owner. This way you contribute to reducing wasteful consumption.
But let's get started now.
Eliminate single socks
Before we tackle some work that requires bigger muscle and mental effort, let's deal with socks. Empty your sock drawer and identify pairs. Organization guru Marie Kondo does say that socks shouldn't be pulled into each other or they'll become sad, but if there's no other way to keep pairs together, so be it.
Look over worn or even holey socks and set them aside along with socks whose pairs have mysteriously disappeared. Just in case, also check your dark laundry basket to see if any unfortunate mates are hidden there. If not, you can use the odd socks as dust or shoe cleaning cloths. They work super well.
Spatulas and ladles in order!
While socks need a partner, spatulas definitely don't. However, it often happens that the container or basket for cooking utensils – whatever you use in your kitchen – tends to be constantly too full, and often when you pull out the whisk you need, you definitely pull out a couple more spatulas as well. Let's put an end to this mess.
Take all these things out of the holder and put back only those that get the most frequent use. The rest go into a cabinet or for recycling.

Prepare yourself: kitchen cabinets!
Oh-ho-ho, what you can find there! Look over storage containers and if you find any that are missing a lid or vice versa, where only the lid remains, take those for recycling too. Maybe someone else needs exactly those parts.
Keep in your cabinets only those things that you really use frequently. And if you have kitchen gadgets that, despite their fancy features that were supposed to make them great according to advertisements, you've never actually started using, then their place is in recycling.
Empty the bathroom!
The bathroom is one place where little jars and bottles tend to accumulate, containing more or less expensive stuff that you can't bring yourself to throw away. For example, shampoo that clearly didn't suit your hair, but which you've kept just in case as a kind of emergency backup. Let's be honest, this is actually over three years old and really hasn't diminished one bit, has it?
Sometimes half-full or completely full bottles of shower gel or shampoo are taken to recycling, so check if anyone would accept yours too.
Kitchen towels in order!
Old and gray kitchen towels, maybe even with a little hole in them, dry best, don't they? Still, look them over to see if any of them haven't already become dust cloth candidates. You'll definitely manage better in the kitchen if your towels are cheerfully colored and nicely clean.
New life for old magazines
Make one big pile of your magazines and look through them. Depending on the person, this of course can take an eternally long time, but afterwards you'll have more space and less dust.
Put those you definitely still want to read into one pile, those that go for recycling into another pile, and those you plan to use for crafts with the kids into a third pile. If you find just one article in a magazine that interests you and will continue to interest you in the future, then boldly cut it out and put it in a folder.

Empty the front table!
The front table is one phenomenal spot for collecting mess, since it's easy to throw everything you're holding at the moment there and then forget about it. Look over all the keys, pens, and hair ties and try to find their owners. If that doesn't work, then it's time for these items to move to the recycling box as well.
