Helpful tip: rooms should be ventilated at least once a day!
Few people know that even in urban environments, indoor air can be more polluted than outdoor air and it needs to be ventilated daily.
Elari Udam, member of the board of Pindi Real Estate Management, said that even the most modern ventilation system may not replace opening windows and airing out rooms. "Ventilation systems are designed according to a so-called standardized usage model, built mostly with the cheapest equipment and balanced for when rooms are empty of furnishings. I have never encountered a single lifestyle that complies 100% with the standard," he said.
"Windows could be left open every day for at least five minutes and preferably this procedure should be repeated more frequently," said Udam.
According to him, research conducted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency also shows that indoor air pollution is an important cause of health problems. "Pollution is caused by paints, furniture, dust, deodorants, cleaning products and hundreds of other different household items whose effects we have no idea about, and alongside all this, the air on the street outside the building can be significantly better quality and this is even in dense urban environments," explained Udam.
"Whether it is hot or cold outside, ventilate your rooms thoroughly and your body will thank you," added Udam.
