How to Make Your Living Room Cozy

The living room is a place where family members come together and enjoy each other's company. But what should a living room be like to invite both your family and guests to spend time there?

The living room must be beautiful, but comfort should not be put aside

All family members must enjoy being in the living room

This means that there must be enough space for everyone there, both for the big and the small. When choosing furniture, you should also consider who your family members are. If you have small children, it's not very wise to choose a white sofa for your living room, because it might happen that one day you find decorations on it that weren't originally there. If your family has a large dog that loves to secretly nap on the sofa, you need to take that into account too.

The living room is used by all family members and therefore you should choose furniture and textiles that can withstand daily intensive use.

Don't make the TV the center of the living room

The center of the room is what your eyes rest on first when you enter the space. We have seen many homes where the TV is prominently displayed in the living room. We recommend that you avoid such a mistake, and if you really want a TV in your living room, you might consider a solution where you can easily pull the TV out when needed. It's much more pleasant to chat with guests when there's no "Brave and Beautiful" playing in the background, but rather gentle music.

If it's technically possible, choose a fireplace as the center of your living room instead. There's nothing more pleasant than chatting with your loved one in front of the fire or having a glass of wine with guests.

The living room can also be set up so that a beautiful sofa is in the center, with a mirror, a painting or photos above it – the choice is yours.

Arrange seating so it's pleasant to converse

Don't arrange seating only in front of the TV, but rather so that it creates a pleasant conversation circle or an opportunity to play board games. You'll certainly find a suitable place for the TV as well.

Change the living room according to the season

A simple and fun way is to use textile exchanges. When Christmas comes, find matching tablecloths, sofa cushions and curtains, and when spring holidays are ahead, bring freshness and spring with colors.

Don't overload the living room with too much furniture

Make the room more lively with houseplants
