Elektrum Fast and Ultra-Fast Chargers Coming to Büroomaailm Stores
Elektrum Drive is building four new electric vehicle charging stations next to Büroomaailma stores in Tallinn, Tartu, and Pärnu. Customers of Estonia's largest office supplies store chain will be able to use convenient and fast charging options starting next summer.
As part of the cooperation, Elektrum Drive will install one 150-kilowatt charger next to Büroomaailma's Pärnu store and a total of six 300-kilowatt fast and ultra-fast chargers next to the Tallinn and Tartu stores.
According to Agnes Makk, the chairwoman of the board of Elektrum Estonia, the cooperation with Büroomaailma marks an important step in developing Elektrum's charging infrastructure. "As the popularity of electric cars grows, so does the need for a denser and more convenient charging network. Larger shopping centers and stores are ideal locations because customers can charge their cars while shopping, making the whole process much more convenient," says Makk.
Elektrum Drive has set a goal to build over 1,000 electric vehicle chargers in Estonia by 2030, ensuring customers convenient and fast access to charging services. This will help Elektrum position itself as a leading player in the electric vehicle charging services market.
According to Makk, the cooperation with Büroomaailma developed naturally, as both companies value innovation and sustainability. "Büroomaailma's focus on customer-centric solutions aligns well with our goal of developing electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Installing charging stations next to their stores provides added value to customers and helps reduce ecological footprint," explains Makk.
Andrus Liivand, a member of the board of Elektrum Estonia, says that Elektrum Drive is known for its innovative and high-quality charging solutions that enable electric car owners to charge their vehicles faster and more conveniently than ever before. Unlike internal combustion engine cars, electric cars can be charged anywhere: at home, at work, or on the road, provided that the location has an appropriately powered charging station installed.
"Estonia currently has approximately 7,000 electric cars, but during this decade we expect a sharp increase in this number. This requires the development of an extensive electric vehicle charging network. That is why we are actively communicating with commercial real estate owners to find suitable locations for implementing charging solutions," says Liivand, who notes that the cooperation with Büroomaailma got off to a very smooth start. "They immediately seized on the idea of installing charging stations in the parking areas next to their stores," he adds.
The first charging station next to Büroomaailma's Pärnu store on Pae Street will open at the end of next year. At the Tartu store on Rebase Street and the Tallinn stores on Peterburi Road and Kadaka Road, the opportunity to charge an electric car will be available at the beginning of 2026.
According to Jüri Ross, the founder and head of Büroomaailma, the new charging option will make customers' lives primarily more convenient. "When a customer comes to our store, they can leave their car charging for half an hour. By the time their shopping is done, the car is already charged – this saves time," explains Ross. From a business perspective, the charging station could be beneficial in such a way that someone might come specifically to charge their car and then spend time in Büroomaailma in the meantime. "We also have a café next to the store," hints Ross.
According to Ross, the topic of sustainability is close to the company's heart. "Over the past two years, we have invested over 400,000 euros in solar panels on our roofs. By this number, you can understand how we look at the world," says the head of Büroomaailma.
The construction of ultra-fast charging stations (2 x 300 kW) next to Büroomaailma's Tallinn and Tartu stores is supported by the European Connecting Europe Facility, which aims to support Estonia's transition to sustainable and environmentally friendly transport. With the help of a 5.5 million euro grant, Elektrum Drive will build a total of 216 charging points in 55 stations on roads in Estonia and Latvia by 2026, which are part of the trans-European transport network.
Elektrum Drive's charging network covers the largest cities in the Baltic countries and provides safe mobility throughout the region, without having to worry about where the next nearest charging point is. Electric vehicle drivers can charge using the Elektrum Drive mobile app, which offers both immediate payment and delayed consolidated payment options and can be used in both Elektrum Drive's charging network and partner charging devices. Additionally, charging service users have 24-hour customer support available.
