Experts Selected a Bright Sky Blue Tone as Next Year's Color
Sadolin Color of the Year 2022 is Bright Skies – a light sky blue tone that bursts with airiness and freshness, and provides new energy for moving forward in life.
Color specialists at AkzoNobel, a leading global manufacturer of paints, coatings, and specialty chemicals, monitor global trends each year in cooperation with independent international design experts that influence all areas of our lives. The AkzoNobel Global Aesthetic Center has been engaged in trend analysis, color research, and design for nearly 30 years.
„The knowledge gained from an extremely comprehensive study is ultimately translated into one primary color that reflects all of our emotions most vividly. This tone should primarily begin to shape homes around the world – of course in Estonia as well," said Elena Past, CEO of Akzo Nobel Baltics AS, which represents the Sadolin, Pinotex, and Hammer brands in the Baltic region.
„The Bright Skies chosen this time, or light sky, represents humanity's need to return from a confined state to freedom and to adopt a fresh approach. The research results clearly reveal that people have learned over the past couple of years to again value what is truly important: family, friends, home, and the world around us," she added.
"In 2022, Bright Skies will help us embrace new ideas and shape a new future," said Heleen van Gent, Creative Director of the AkzoNobel Global Aesthetic Center. "This color reflects the boundless sky above us, giving room to change the meaning of our homes, nature, art, and new voices, and to dream again of a brighter tomorrow. As consumers want to express themselves and transform their spaces, our role as color experts is to inspire them in making these choices."
The AkzoNobel Global Aesthetic Center has designed four decorative color palettes as examples: workshop, studio, green office, and salon colors. With the help of these palettes, it is easy to combine different tones with each other and make choices to create the desired emotion in a space.
Based on extensive color and material research as well as market analysis, special color palettes have been developed for the aviation, automotive, consumer electronics, metal furniture, household appliances, flooring, building products, and architecture sectors.
