Today, Rural Affairs Minister Urmas Kruuse, Chairman of the Board of AS E-Piim Tootmine Jaanus Murakas, and Chairman of the Board of Nordecon AS Gerd Müller laid the cornerstone for E-Piim's new factory in Paide.

Construction work, which began in the summer of 2021, will last approximately 2.5 years, with Nordecon AS as the main contractor. The construction work includes the construction of more than 30,000 m2 of factory and administrative buildings, as well as a boiler house and fencing.

"Dairy farming is a very important sector, being part of our food security guarantee. The construction of E-Piim's new factory complex is significant both for the company and for the entire domestic dairy sector. The new building will significantly increase milk processing capacity in the country and will allow a larger portion of revenue to remain with Estonian dairy producers and processors," said Rural Affairs Minister Urmas Kruuse.

Chairman of the Board of AS E-Piim Tootmine Jaanus Murakas: "With the dairy industry being built in Paide, Estonia's dairy sector will achieve greater competitiveness than before. Modern technology and automation ensure high production efficiency and productivity. Close cooperation with Dutch partners has enabled us to bring the best knowledge to Estonia about the factory preparation and construction process and ensures smooth factory startup. The scale of the new factory requires diverse competencies and the involvement of many parties and their high professionalism. We are grateful to the public for their understanding and supportive attitude, without which it is impossible to realize ambitious projects."

"In E-Piim's construction work, we have had to deal with challenges arising from the effects of the coronavirus, supply difficulties, and the Ukraine war. This is a tense environment, and cooperation is key to successful management," said Chairman of the Board of Nordecon AS Gerd Müller. "On this project, we have truly worked in very close cooperation with both the client and all other important parties to find good solutions, and thanks to this, construction work is progressing at the planned pace."

The E-Piim factory complex being built as a new construction in Paide includes a two-story administrative building, a single-story production floor, and a seven-story powder industry building section, with a total enclosed gross area of 32,446.9 m2. The main designer of the building is Novarc Grupp AS.

The building, despite its size, is quite articulated, which allows the architectural building volumes to be emphasized. The overall tone is light – like milk – the primary facade material is three-layer steel-clad white SW panels. Accents are butter-yellow window openings and frames and external staircase supports and loading bridge surrounds.

Entry to the factory building is provided through the administrative block, where on the entrance floor there is a foyer, changing rooms and break rooms for factory workers, and a cafeteria. Separate changing rooms are provided for production area workers and warehouse and logistics area workers.

Production is generally located in the single-story section of the building in the central part and southeast wing. The powder industry building section is fully multi-story, with the technology of large-scale dryer towers installed on the main floors and additionally on five technological floors (7 floors total), the highest of which reaches approximately 32m in height. The dryer tower levels are connected via a continuous stairwell, and an external ladder equipped with intermediate platforms is provided as an emergency exit.
