Domus Real Estate Seeks Development Director
After four years of stagnation, real estate companies are preparing for a new upturn. Although competition in the new development market remains extremely intense and bringing new projects to market is associated with major risks, preparations for a new growth period are underway on several fronts – land portfolios are being assembled and teams are being strengthened. Domus Kinnisvara, which has been operating for 23 years, recently announced a job opening for a development director.
Although Domus Kinnisvara is primarily known as an all-Estonia real estate brokerage firm and valuation service provider, real estate development has been part of the company since its inception. "Despite the market downturn, real estate development and investments in Tallinn and Tartu have been Domus's fastest-growing sector over the past five years. In addition to residential development, which has long been our strength, commercial real estate projects have been added," explains Ingvar Allekand, a board member who has long led Domus Kinnisvara's development division. "By now, a situation has emerged where a large part of my attention is taken up by cash flow investment projects, while at the same time there is enormous potential in the new development market waiting to be realized," Allekand adds.
A development director is part of Domus's top management and has significant influence on the entire group's operations, explains Raul Reino, another board member of Domus Kinnisvara. "We are still primarily looking for a leader. Results orientation and previous real estate market experience are necessary, as well as knowledge of finance and understanding of construction processes," Reino highlights important criteria. "For some ambitious young person, a superb opportunity to get introduced to the big picture of the real estate market," Reino adds humorously, alluding to the fact that Estonia's real estate market elite consists of "old hands," who are nevertheless young enough to hold the reins themselves.
