Oh, Christmas really is a pleasant holiday! The scent of gingerbread fills the entire city and village, and as far as we know, even elves have been spotted here and there. If you don't want to spend too long hunting for gifts in a shopping center at the expense of your cozy Christmas time, and instead are ready to work in your nice kitchen, then we have some good ideas for how to make delicious Christmas gifts.

Go ahead, make your gifts at least partially yourself this year. This means buying nice storage jars or wooden boxes from the store and baking something delicious inside them. We promise you that your loved ones will be doubly happy with such gifts.

Macarons – everyone's favorite

It is believed that making macarons is beyond many people's abilities, but we don't want to agree with that. With a good recipe and instructions, it's not as difficult as it seems at first. We made our macarons with this video and they turned out great. A good Estonian-language tutorial is also here.

Once you've baked the macarons, put them in a nice jar or box and you have a delicious gift ready.

Gingerbread with a twist

Yes, we know that gingerbread probably exists in every household, but if you approach the gingerbread theme with a little smile on your face, then you can get gifts that no one else has.

If you know that the gift recipient has some hobby or weakness, then make gingerbreads that remind them of it. For example, for a beer enthusiast a box full of beer mugs or for a dog owner a jar full of little dog bones.

Or simply make fun gingerbreads. For example, draw bikinis on gingerbread girls. Or decorate your gingerbreads like popular emoticons.

Sweet almonds

We would be very happy if we received beautiful roasted almonds packaged in a nice glass jar as a gift. You know those almond carts that you can't get past in the old town of Tallinn. That's exactly the kind of almonds we're thinking of. According to Ragne's recipe you can make them yourself.

You can also use nice brown Christmas paper bags for packing the almonds.

Various kinds of truffles

Truffles are incredibly easy to make and we don't know anyone who doesn't like them. So making and giving them as gifts is a safe bet. Four simple and quick recipes you can find in this video. Truffles are best packed in a box. Add a nice layer of beautiful silk paper underneath them as well.

Waffles – waffles!

No one can resist these crispy dreams. We nibbled on them recently at the Christmas market and barely managed to leave without buying out the entire stall.

There are several nice ways to pack waffles. You can, for example, tie little ribbons around them and pack them in a box that way, or put them in a transparent jar instead.

Lingonberry-chocolate cookies

We have to warn you. If you make these cookies for your family in addition to putting them in Santa's bag, there's a risk that you won't be able to get out of the kitchen for the entire year. They're simply delicious and it's easy to become addicted to them.

Glass jars, metal tins, wooden boxes or any other nice dishes are suitable for packing the cookies.
