DEPO's Second Estonian Store Coming to Lasnamäe
Latvian retail chain DEPO, which offers a wide selection of home, garden, renovation, and construction goods, is building a DEPO store with an area of 30,000 m2 in Lasnamäe next to Tallink Tennis Center in cooperation with Infortar, with the store planned to open in autumn 2026.
The total investment in the project amounts to approximately 52 million euros, of which Infortar is investing 27 million euros in real estate development. DEPO, in turn, plans to invest 25 million euros in creating a trading space that corresponds to the DEPO concept.
DEPO's marketing director Rimants Jugans: "Our first Estonian store has proven itself successfully as a place where Estonian people draw ideas and inspiration, finding solutions for implementing their plans. This encourages us to expand our activities in Estonia. People have begun to appreciate our concept – a wide selection of immediately available goods also in larger volumes, as well as consistent and stable low-price policy.
DEPO's 18th store in the chain will be built in Tallinn's Lasnamäe district. With this store, DEPO becomes even more accessible to those who want to improve the environment around them, in their homes, gardens, and yards. We are convinced that the second DEPO store in Tallinn will also become a favorite place for everyday shopping, such as leisure and sports goods, home textiles and interior goods, household and food goods, and pet products."
"For Lasnamäe, this means the addition of a modern retail space, for Infortar a new cooperation project, the start of the second phase of the Mustakivi property, and a worthy addition to our real estate portfolio," noted Ain Hanschmidt, chairman of the Infortar board.
The design of the DEPO store in Lasnamäe has begun, with construction planned to start in spring 2025. In addition to the 30,000 m2 retail space, 522 parking spaces will be built. To ensure smooth and safe traffic, intersections and access roads near the store will be reconstructed and a new street will be built. Currently, the additional environmental conditions necessary to begin construction work have been met, and construction work is planned to be completed in autumn 2026.
Tallink Tennis Center, located on the same property, began operations in 2016. The 15,000 m2 Tallink Tennis Center, which cost ten million euros, accommodates 20 tennis and 10 badminton courts, studios for group training, and a gym.
The companies belonging to the Infortar group, including real estate development and engineering and construction companies, have significantly expanded their activities – in March next year, a 25,000 m2 logistics center development project will be completed in Saue Laagris, Gate Tallinn business park, and among construction projects, work is underway on the construction of a new bridge in Pärnu on the order of Pärnu city government and the construction of the main route of Rail Baltica, the Kangru-Saku section in Harjumaa.
DEPO is a company based on 100% Latvian capital, founded in 2004, and is part of the holding company DMT Plus. The DEPO store chain has a total of 17 stores in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. In 2023, revenue amounted to 553 million euros. In total, the DEPO store chain employs more than 3,600 people. In 2024, two new DEPO stores opened – one in Kaunas with an area of 22,000 m2 and one in Riga with an area of 31,000 m2.
