Building of the Year 2026 – Competition Begins
Estonian Concrete Association and Estonian Association of Building Materials Manufacturers announce the competition "Building of the Year in Concrete 2026". The purpose of the competition is to enhance the reputation of concrete as the most widely used domestic building material and to contribute to the development of concrete architecture, concrete technology and concrete construction.
"This year too, many buildings are being completed in Estonia where concrete plays a load-bearing role," said Imre Leetma, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Concrete Association. "We invite to our competition not only residential and public buildings but also industrial, infrastructure, agricultural and all kinds of other buildings and structures that from various perspectives demonstrate the versatile possibilities of concrete as a building material."
Concrete structures can be submitted to the competition:
buildings and structures – which are handed over to the client during 2026;
buildings that have not been submitted to the competition before;
constructions and methods can also be submitted.
The winning object or method is one where significant contribution has been made by companies registered in Estonia and concrete materials supplied from Estonia. When selecting the winning work, consideration is given to the professionalism and sophistication of the object's design and construction, quality and innovativeness.
The main prize goes to the author of the winning idea. Recognition is given to the winning object's client, designer, builder, materials supplier, concrete products manufacturer and concrete supplier.
