At today's concrete day at Viimsi Artium, the winners of the "Concrete Structure of the Year 2022" competition were announced.

Jury comment: "Modern apartment buildings with commercial spaces that fit well into their specific location in an urban environment with quality architecture. A good example of quality cooperation between architect-designer-concrete element manufacturer. Very demanding concrete element quality, as well as their installation."

Jury Chairman Aadu Kana: "It is through structures like Järve Towers that modern concrete construction demonstrates its trump cards – precise, complex and high-quality elements manufactured under factory conditions, along with the countless possibilities offered by on-site assembly. An excellent example of modern concrete construction."

Special Award: To the general manager of the Pakri LNG Terminal's mooring quay construction, Reedik Raudla (Pakrineeme Port OÜ construction manager) – for excellent coordination of cooperation between the team – client-designer-contractor.

Jury comment: "As the client's representative, he directed quality execution of all work in a record-breakingly short time. The LNG terminal's mooring quay was completed in a world record short time. The concrete work was also an extraordinary effort – the concrete pump's pipeline had to be extended 750 meters to pour the concrete parts of the mooring quay, which is reportedly an Estonian record."

Jury Chairman Aadu Kana: "Everyone involved in the construction was deeply impressed by the work of Reedik Raudla, the construction manager on the client's side. As the client's representative, he directed quality execution of all work."

The special award from the Estonian Association of Building Engineers was received by – Järve Towers' structural engineers Jaanus Olop and Mati Jõgiste (E-Betoonelement OÜ).

The special award from Äripäev's construction news was received by – GRK Eesti AS as the general contractor of the Puiatu Ecoduct construction.

The "Concrete Structure of the Year" competition, organized for the twenty-third time this year, has been created to introduce the public to the wide range of uses for concrete and to recognize those people who have used domestic building material – versatile and easily formable concrete – to implement their ideas. 13 structures were submitted to this year's competition. Submissions to the competition could be concrete structures handed over to the client during 2022 and the structures and methods used in them.

The jury for the "Concrete Structure of the Year 2022" competition included representatives from Estonian construction industry associations: from the Estonian Association of Architects – Villem Tomiste, from the Estonian Concrete Association – Kalev Ramjalg, from the Estonian Construction Entrepreneurs' Association – Indrek Peterson, from the Estonian Association of Construction Engineers – Heiki Meos, from the Estonian Construction Consultancy Association – Johann-Aksel Tarbe, from the Estonian Building Materials Manufacturers' Association – Marina Vaganova, as well as representatives of construction journalists – Teeli Remmelg, Editor-in-Chief of Äripäev's construction publications, Liivi Tamm, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "EhitusEST", and Finnish architect Maritta Koivisto – Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Betoni" and Aadu Kana – Kunda Nordic Cement AS, jury chairman.

The Estonian Concrete Association is an association that promotes the use of concrete as a domestic building material and includes 85 companies, organizations and individuals.

The Estonian Building Materials Manufacturers' Association is an association of companies engaged in the production and sale of building materials and includes 62 companies.
