Biotechnology Company Lays Cornerstone Today in Jüri for New Office and Production Building
USA biotechnology innovator Repligen Corporation (NASDAQ:RGEN), listed on the New York Stock Exchange, is building an office, manufacturing and service center in Estonia. The building, which will be more than 7500m2 in size and will have its cornerstone laid today in Jüri Technopark near Tallinn, will cost 12 million euros and will provide jobs for nearly 200 people upon completion.
According to Madis Unt, CEO of Repligen Estonia, the completed building will enable the company focused on the development and production of biotechnology process equipment to dramatically increase its operations in Estonia. "Next spring we will have access to a space more than four times larger than before. With the new building, special attention has been paid to employee well-being and environmentally and energy-efficient solutions," emphasized Unt, noting that it is symbolic in a way that during development it was possible to preserve a nearly 300-year-old oak tree on the property, and the building was designed and built around the tree.
In the new Repligen Estonia building there will be assembly production, equipment testing, warehouse, office, spaces for research and development activities, and a laboratory. In addition, there are separate spaces for after-sales service and technical support center for European and Asian markets. Equipment designed and manufactured in Estonia is used by biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies for manufacturing critical medicines in the USA, Europe and Asia.
According to Andreas Laane, board member of Ringitee Kinnistud OÜ, which belongs to the property owner and developer OÜ Biofuel, the building, taking into account Repligen's needs and technological requirements, will cost 12 million euros and will be completed in the first quarter of 2024. "The best news of the day is, of course, that one of the most innovative manufacturing companies with global reach has decided to tie its growth potential to Estonia," emphasized Laane on the significance of the entire development project.
The main contractor for the construction is Rand & Tuulberg, project manager Joonas Matteus. The building was designed by Rovin OÜ, architect Kati Haki, and the interior architectural solutions were created by AERIS.
