Garden Work in August
August, also known as the harvest month, brings busy times for garden owners as most of the harvest is ready. Here are the main garden tasks for August:
Berries are ready now
Pick them as they ripen. If the harvest is too large, it's wise to freeze them and make smoothies in winter!
Vegetables
are also ready for picking and preserving!
Houseplants that were taken outside for the summer can now be brought back inside
They thank you for the time spent in your garden and are preparing for a new season.

The lawn no longer needs as much mowing
Do it as needed. You can let the grass grow a bit longer now. Grass that is too short can turn yellow in the heat.
Your hedge hasn't felt your caring hand in a long time
Whether it's a leaf or conifer hedge, now is the time to trim it.
Watering is still important
In Estonia, August and September tend to still have quite warm weather and all flowers and vegetables want extra moisture.

August is the pruning month
Now it's time to grab the pruning shears and cut off unnecessary branches from the trees.
Now is the ideal time for planting flower bulbs
When planting flower bulbs, make sure the bulb goes about 3-4 times deeper than its diameter.
