Aasta Concrete Structure 2022 Competition Begins
The Estonian Concrete Association and the Estonian Association of Construction Materials Producers announced a competition for "Building of the Year 2022". The goal of the competition is to enhance the reputation of concrete as a domestic building material and contribute to the development of concrete architecture, concrete technology, and concrete construction.
"Despite difficult times, Estonia is building carefully – new school buildings, healthcare and cultural facilities, infrastructure and structural buildings, agricultural and industrial facilities, defense force buildings and structures, apartment buildings, private houses, and office buildings have been completed and are being completed," said Imre Leetma, chairman of the board of the Estonian Concrete Association. "We are expecting the best of these to be submitted to our competition."
Concrete structures can be submitted to the competition:
– buildings and structures that are handed over to the client during 2022;
– structures that have not been submitted to the competition before;
– constructions and methods can also be submitted.
The winning object or method is one where significant work has been contributed by companies registered in Estonia and concrete materials supplied from Estonia. When selecting the winning work, consideration is given to the professionalism and demanding level of design and construction of the object, quality, and innovation.
The grand prize belongs to the author of the winning idea. Recognition will be given to the client, designer, builder, equipment supplier, precast concrete manufacturer, and concrete supplier of the winning object.
