The Concrete Building of the Year 2025 Nominees Have Been Announced

A total of 12 buildings are participating this year in the annual competition "Concrete Building of the Year 2025" organized by the Estonian Concrete Association and the Estonian Association of Building Material Producers.

"Worthy concrete structures have been submitted to this year's competition from all the major construction centers in Estonia," said Imre Leetma, chairman of the board of the Estonian Concrete Association. "Concrete remains irreplaceable in the construction of apartment buildings and private houses, kindergartens, theaters and hotels, high-rise buildings and highway bridges, not to mention objects built for protective purposes," added Leetma. 

The jury of the "Concrete Building of the Year 2025" competition nominated 12 buildings for the competition.

Candidates for the 2025 concrete building title:

  6. Lina 10 Townhouses, Lina 10, Tartu

  7. NGL Logistics Center, Paemurru 1, Maardu, Harjumaa                               

  8. Rescue Department Demolition Site at Potsepa Quarry, Kõima Village, Pärnu                 

  9. Tallinn City Theater Reconstruction, Lai 23, Kesklinn, Tallinn                           

  10. Tammiku Private House, Tammiku 8, Tartu

  11. Tähtvere Skatepark, Song Festival Ave. 29, Tartu

The aim of the competition is to find and highlight buildings whose design and effective and economical execution demonstrate the advantages and possibilities of concrete as a domestic material.

The winning object or project is one where a significant contribution has been made by the work of companies registered in Estonia and concrete materials supplied from Estonia. In selecting the winning work, the professionalism and demanding level of the object's design and construction, quality and innovation are also taken into account.

The main prize belongs to the author of the winning idea. Recognition is given to the winner's client, designer, builder, concrete and equipment supplier.

The jury of the competition, being held for the twenty-sixth time, includes representatives from the Estonian Association of Architects, the Estonian Concrete Association, the Estonian Association of Construction Enterprises, the Estonian Association of Construction Engineers, the Estonian Association of Construction Consulting Enterprises, the Estonian Association of Building Material Producers, Heidelberg Materials Kunda and construction press.

The competition jury has begun its work.

The winner will be announced on Concrete Day, March 24.
