6 Ideas for Turning Your Bathroom into a Cozy Home Spa
The bathroom is no longer just a place to take a quick morning shower. We increasingly expect more from this room: that it would be a pleasant home spa where you can prepare yourself for the day in a beautiful environment and relax in soothing scents in the evening.
To turn an ordinary bathroom into a spa, you don't have to undertake a major renovation—there are much simpler ways to manage it.
Put things away
Smaller items can be placed on a tray on the sink counter. This way they stay neatly in one place and leave the room looking clean and tidy.
Dozens of bottles and little containers don't go well with a calming environment at all. Collect all the shampoo bottles and shower gels from the bathtub and sink edges and place them in beautiful baskets. But first do a thorough inventory among the bottles—you probably don't even need half of what you have.
Especially good idea: use up your current shower gel and when it's finished, go to a soap shop and buy yourself a couple of good-smelling natural soaps. Their scent, color, and shape play a big role in creating a spa atmosphere in your bathroom. Also, using shower gel doesn't align with today's packaging-free ideology. And who knows what questionable substances that gel contains anyway.
Soap, however, is beautiful, smells good, and is also better for your skin.
Place an extra cabinet in the bathroom
If all the necessary bottles simply won't fit into baskets or a small cabinet, then place a slightly larger cabinet in the bathroom. Maybe it fits under the sink? If you have more space in your bathroom, you could also bring in a nice dresser or a cabinet with glass doors bought from a secondhand shop.

Soothing colors
If you are willing to undertake a renovation, choose neutral, soothing tones for the walls. There's nothing wrong with bright colors, but since your goal is to create a relaxing spa, save that bright red shower curtain for another time.
Replace the showerhead
A new luxurious showerhead will take your morning or evening washing experience to a completely new level.
Do a little research and choose a showerhead with the modes and features you like. There are countless options.
Replace towels and bath linens
What else do you enjoy when visiting a spa besides the saunas and pool? Large comfortable bath towels, right?
Investing in quality bath towels and hand towels makes sense for two reasons. First, they're pleasant to the skin and create the feeling that you're actually in a spa, and second, they're also nice to look at when they're neatly laid on a shelf or rolled up.
Bring music to the bathroom
Modern technological possibilities allow you to listen to quality music anywhere. Place a small wireless speaker in the bathroom (choose a waterproof one just in case), which plays music from your phone. But put your phone out of sight, because you were supposed to relax, weren't you?
Find candles and diffusers
Did you think we wouldn't get to scents? No home spa is perfect without good scented candles, an aroma lamp, or diffusers. You don't have to fuss with a diffuser for long—just a little is enough to have a pleasant sandalwood scent in the room.
If you like an aroma lamp, use soothing lavender, vanilla, rose, or jasmine oil in it. And if you can afford yourself long mornings where you don't have to rush through the bathroom but can work there peacefully, you can add orange oil to the aroma lamp water. This will instantly give your day a nice boost.
