When putting together color schemes, idea collages found on the internet are certainly helpful, but really it's enough to visit a hardware store and see which tones go well together for you. Color cards are helpful for this. But if you're not sure what tones to use, select for example a carpet and curtains or even bedding and base your choice on the tones that appear in them.

DECIDE ON YOUR STYLE

But keep in mind that it should still match the rest of your home. This way you avoid the possibility that the final result of the room doesn't please you and you feel a strong need to start over. The interesting solutions found on Pinterest are certainly very tempting and inviting, but if they don't fit with your existing home, they could just remain nice ideas that you might use somewhere else someday.

WATCH THE LIGHT

Does the room get morning sun, which would require blackout curtains for a bedroom? Or evening sun that could bother someone sitting at a desk? Is the room rather dark? Then lighter tones would suit this room better. These are just some of the factors to consider when designing a room. Take time to observe how light moves through the room and make your decisions based on that.
