See what's exciting 2019 recommends for interior design and what it rules out.

WHAT'S IN:

1. Traditional floral patterns, whether conveyed in a direct or abstract way – walls and fabrics.

2. Bold colors that offer accent to pure white tones. A special design guru in 2019 is emerald green.

3. In addition to floral patterns, monochromatic pattern solutions are deepening: on carpets that combine with trinket-style shelves.

4. In 2019, handicraft products continue to be held in high regard. Ceramic and porcelain tableware and beautiful sculptures keep the bar of coziness high. Of course, also all kinds of domestic niche – design.

5. Boho style mixed with modernity – one of the best things that can happen between your home walls.

6. More than three different shades of metals in home design is one of the most prominent innovations that 2019 brings with it. Metals like silver and tin can be nicely mixed with products made from bronze and dark brown metals, and wonderful solutions are also provided by, for example, brass, gold or nickel accents with oil-rubbed bronze or aged iron effects.

7. Welcome back deep blacks and dark bathrooms and goodbye to shiny furniture surfaces. The latter especially in kitchens, where high-gloss work surfaces are replaced with warmer, darker and more nature-related tones – marble still doesn't disappear.

WHAT'S OUT:

1. Cold gray tones lose their phenomenon in the new year – warm is the new cold. Add warm fabrics to the cold gray or perhaps a softly glowing lighting solution and you'll be even more ahead.

2. Terrace trends out of the kitchen – outdoor grill-reminiscent stove grates and weathered and seemingly stained stone floors.

3. This endless indigo style and mixed eras without end and style.

4. One-sided tonality in colors – entirely creamy white palette in the bedroom without personal accents.

5. The biggest loss for true design enthusiasts – succulents are not here to stay.
