Estonian Company Roofit.Solar Won Red Dot Design Award's Highest Recognition

Roofit.Solar was the first Estonian company to bring home the highest recognition of the world-renowned Red Dot Award 2024, "Best of the Best". This is a design award with a 70-year history, previously won by companies such as Ferrari, Apple, Sony, and Bosch. Roofit.Solar won for its solar roof NuClick®, which combines Nordic minimalist design with cutting-edge solar energy storage technology that is invisible to the eye.

The Red Dot Award 2024 competition received entries from 60 countries. A jury of 39 experts found that the solar roof created by Estonians represents a major breakthrough in the use of solar energy in the construction sector – technically, functionally, and especially aesthetically. "We considered it important to recognize this project with the highest award to inspire the entire construction industry to follow their example. Their potential is tremendous!" the jury stated in its comments.

NuClick® looks like a classic metal roof, with the latest solar technology integrated into it without compromising style or installation simplicity. The roof is built to be durable and withstand extreme weather conditions.

Roofit.Solar exports 95% of roofs manufactured in Estonia and they can be found on prestigious buildings across Europe in 23 different countries. "We believe this is an environmentally friendly future technology for construction that will become the preferred alternative to panels," said Anijalg. In Estonia, Roofit.Solar's roof is on the University of Tartu, the National Library, partially on the Seamen's Hospital, and other buildings. For many buildings under heritage protection, this roof is the only option for using solar energy, as preserving architectural style is crucial and standard solar panels are not permitted.

Now the solar roof is increasingly winning design awards. Earlier this year, Roofit.Solar NuClick® won two more prestigious awards: iF Design Award 2024 and German Innovation Award 2024. Roofit.Solar received the award at the Red Dot Award 2024: Product Design competition in the Urban Design category, Building Elements subcategory.
